The firm was established in 1985 with a single clear objective: to practise Nigerian law at the highest level available to it. Not the highest level accessible at the time, but the highest level period — with the understanding that reaching it was a matter of preparation, commitment, and sustained output over time.
Four decades later, that objective has been met. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria designation — the formal recognition of having reached the highest level of professional standing in Nigerian legal practice — has been conferred. The firm operates from two offices. It practises across fourteen areas of Nigerian law. It advocates before every level of the Nigerian court system, including the Supreme Court.
The history of this firm is not one of rapid expansion or aggressive growth. 1985
Founded
Chukwuma Ekomaru is called to the Nigerian Bar and establishes independent legal practice. The foundation is litigation — civil and criminal matters at the State High Court level. From the outset, the standard is set: every brief prepared as if it will go the full distance.
1990s
Federal Court Practice
Practice expands to the Federal High Court as economic and regulatory matters increase in complexity and volume. Property transactions, corporate advisory, and constitutional cases begin to form a larger share of the practice. Federal court relationships are built across a decade of continuous advocacy.
2000s
ADR & Corporate Practice
The firm establishes dedicated arbitration and corporate governance practices as Nigerian commercial law develops a more sophisticated framework. The firm begins advising on capital markets transactions, company structuring, and complex debt instruments alongside its litigation core.
2010s
SAN Designation & Second Office
Chukwuma Ekomaru is conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria following review by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee. The Owerri branch office is established, extending the firm's direct coverage to south-east Nigeria and the Federal High Court Owerri division.
